Women in Construction Week 2025

At Morgan Corp., we recognize and appreciate the dedication and contributions of our women every single day. However, in an industry where men make up the majority of the workforce, the incredible efforts of women in construction can sometimes go unnoticed. That’s why Women in Construction Week is so important—it’s our opportunity to shine a spotlight on the talented, hardworking women who help build the future, one project at a time. Join us as we celebrate their achievements and the vital role they play in shaping our industry!

What advice would you give other women who want to work in construction?

I would tell other women who want to work in construction to always advocate for yourself and stay resilient. It’s important to speak up for yourself and make sure you are heard in this industry. Your opinion and contributions are important!

What made you pursue construction?

I love that Morgan Corp. is a family and safety-oriented construction company – united people for the purpose of building and completing the task at hand. We spend more time with people we build relationships with than our own blood-related family members. For the most part, we are each other’s brother’s keepers.

I became interested in construction through my husband of 19 years, Ardene, better known as “Big Money” on the job; he has been with Morgan Corp. for over 12 years. Listening to the stories he used to tell me about the people he worked with, the laughter, and the phone calls he would have after work, made me feel like part of the family before I started working with the company 2 years ago. Working with my husband and operating D9 dozers is, as they say on the jobsite, Living the Dream!!! Now we both share conversations about the people we call family, and now I have my own relationships and memories to laugh, cry, and smile about. I finally had the opportunity to meet some of the Legends of Morgan Corp. – Mr. Gary, Mr. Julius, Mr. Charles, and of course, the Johnsons!

I never thought I would be working in construction operating a D9 Dozer. If I had to leave any piece of advice, it would be to never underestimate a woman’s power and ability, with God’s help, to accomplish any task, traditional or nontraditional.

Just a little seat time is all it takes to be great!

What do you like best about Morgan Corp.?

My favorite part about Morgan Corp. has to be the willingness of others to teach me about the construction industry. I came in knowing next to nothing, and folks from every department have taken time out of their day to help me understand their trade. I spent my very first week with Mr. Gary (pictured), the ultimate teacher, and have found countless others who have a truck knack for mentorship in my year and a half since.

–  Elizabeth, Proposal Coordinator

What has your experience been like?

My experience has been great knowing that I have contributed to several projects. I have learned a lot through trial and error, and it has helped me improve out in the field. I enjoy watching projects throughout the different phases, because it really shows how hard work pays off in the long run. I have been interested in construction because my family has been in the industry for years. My advice for women in construction is to not feel intimidated. There are many opportunities, and it’s a job where you can learn and challenge yourself.

What do you like about working in construction?

Being in construction has been extremely rewarding. Being able to move Earth from hills and valleys to the design of which the client wants is truly something special. There’s no way to describe the feeling of getting to the end of a job and knowing you were a part of building something special that will last for generations to come.
