Nominees Compete in 3rd Annual Operator Challenge

The Training team recently hosted the third annual Morgan Corp. Operator Challenge in Columbia, S.C. Nominated operators from each of our civil divisions competed in a day-long, multi-challenge event based on time and precision. They each took a turn operating a dozer, skid steer, and excavator completing tasks like moving a tire, knocking tennis balls off cones and loading an articulated truck.

The three challenges were judged by the trainers, ensuring operators followed predetermined rules and time penalties were added as necessary.

Stay on Track – Maneuver skid steer loader through course using PVC mounted bucket to knock tennis balls off of each cone while maintaining balance and material control.

Precision Push – Push materials (tires within blade) while maneuvering track type tractor through pre-determined course. Remove tennis balls from cones.

Dig N Swing – Move material, 10 full buckets into the articulated dump truck to achieve a pre-determined target weight of 30 tons.

Families got a chance to see their operator’s skills, enjoy a cookout by our shop staff and watch the competition. Special thank you to the team Blanchard Machinery for providing the competition venue and support of the event.
