Built On: Providing New Perspectives

As we embark on a busy summer, our teams are expanding! See a snapshot of our Survey Department below, as two team members, Erika, and Carrie, share with us their takeaways from early in their careers.
How Erika and Carrie Are Shaping the Future of Surveying
Erika started with Morgan Corp. as a construction laborer, counting truck tickets and learning the dynamics of a job site. “I was given the opportunity to ask so many questions from people who knew way more than I did”, naming Rudy Rose, one of MC’s most seasoned operators, as a resource for wisdom.
As she continued to showcase leadership skills, the move to Survey seemed like a natural fit. When asked how she feels with a different way to contribute to the progress of a jobsite, she states, “The job sites rely on surveyors’ expertise for their planning, so we take that responsibility seriously. Our models deal with the integrity of the information for the job site”. She noted the importance of viewing their team’s work as “serving” the field, alluding to Morgan Corp.’s 2024 motto of “Field First”.
As a member of Morgan Corp.’s Emerging Leaders cohort and a rising star in the Savannah Division, there is a bright future ahead for Erika.
Carrie, a student at Georgia Southern, finds her work experience at Morgan Corp. adds a layer of real-life know-how to her Construction Management studies. Spending time problem solving and collaborating with Project Engineers and Project Managers has allowed her to test her skills outside of the textbooks.
She stressed the importance of one of Morgan Corp.’s Social Contract objectives; “Value the experience and opinion of others”.
“Asking for advice and leaning on the experience of others on my team allows me to grow” regarding tasks like creating as-builts, stakeouts, curb layouts, and utility layouts. Carrie’s role also entails coordinating drone flights and ensuring the reception and review of models by the project teams.
When discussing her favorite parts of the job, the mentorship provided by Erika fell at the top of the list.
We are excited to watch Carrie succeed in her final months at Georgia Southern, expecting to graduate in December 2024!
