2024 Career Fair season is in full swing! Read below for how recent grads can engineer a path forward with Morgan Corp.

Georgia Southern alumnus Michael Daly found a way to apply his knowledge and love of the construction industry through his role as Project Engineer at Morgan Corp.

The Savannah local built respect for different aspects of field work, sweeping floors on residential sites at the age of 14. He then moved towards carpentry, and served as a helping hand to neighbors after Hurricane Matthew struck the Tybee Island and Savannah areas.

When it came time for graduation, an opportunity to learn more about the dirt work side of construction at Morgan Corp. caught his eye. Michael felt his newly minted Construction Management degree would be put to good use in the Savannah Division, where their field and project teams boast an impressive portfolio of mass-grading projects for commercial sites.

“Be prepared to learn, because 90% of the job is just showing up, paying attention, and knowing when you need to ask someone else a question”, is Michael’s main takeaway from his time as a Field Engineer, Morgan Corp.’s first step in a long line of field supervision roles.

With his demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to striving for excellence on sites like Riverport, supervision and company leadership recognized that Michael was ready to progress into the Project Engineer role.

While his day-to-day responsibilities will be geared more towards internal project management, he acknowledges how valuable his varied field experience has been. Michael maintains, “I still don’t have to know everything, and I still need to be willing to learn anything”.

“On any job site, there are some very experienced operators. I knew how important it was for the job’s success and for me as a Field Engineer to consider their opinions. It makes the whole process easier, and sometimes even safer, when everyone is included”.
